Like SDN technology, NIN Flexilink technology recognizes that most of the packets are part of the flow, and most of the decisions the system has to make are on the basis of per-flow rather than per-packet basis. For instance, the next hop from a switch toward the destination will be the same for every packet on the flow. The packets carrying live audio or video stream will arrive at regular intervals and they require to be forwarded promptly, whereas the packets from other applications with fewer latency requirements demands can be queued together.
