Introduction to Fixed Radio Links
Fixed Radio Links are radio links for exchanging data between two fixed stations. The main purpose of Fixed Radio Links is to provide voice communication, although most links may support data transmission in some form. Fixed Radio Links come in many different configurations and applications, including AM/VHF/UHF, line-of-sight microwave, and satellite backhaul systems. They can be used for line-of-sight communications only (LOS), or in the case of satellite backhaul, may have their radio signals relayed multiple times to create a LOS path between two points that are not visible to one another. Fixed Radio Links (FR) is the radio links in the telecommunications sector between a base station and remote radio units, or between two remote radio units.

This equipment can be either installed indoors or outdoors. Fixed Radio Link is a promising solution for data network communication, with services like high capacity, high transfer speed, and low latency. Fixed radio links are used for point-to-point radio communication between two or more locations. In order to establish a connection, the transmitter is sequentially turned on at each end of the link and the resulting transmissions are monitored. When successful communication is established over a channel, the pair of transmitters can alternately send data at their highest possible throughput rate by using either half duplex or full duplex modes of operation. Fixed Radio Links is a networking service that implements the DAFT-2.1 standard for fixed radio links between fixed stations in a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN). Fixed Radio Links may also employ fixed cell sites, as well as portable and mobile radios. Among other things, Fixed Radio Links delivers services supporting eCall functionality.
