This 5G-advanced course covers all topics which are required to understand this concept completely. 5G-Advanced is the 5G evolution defined in 3GPP Rel-18. With the Evolution of 5G Core and 5G NR towards the 5G-A, the success of 5G systems can be ensured. 5G-A will bring all the capabilities of the 5G technology, it breaks down the boundaries of the networks and expands all the connectivity. 5G-A can transform what we can achieve in our networks. It is the next step on the journey to 6G technology. 5G Advanced has various capabilities ranging from various new services to extreme connectivity, and security in the systems. 5G-A provides enhanced MIMO performance for a 5G network. 5G-A has a feature of Accurate timings which will guard against the degradation or loss of satellite signals by providing time references directly from the network.
5G Advanced will use AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine learning) to apply Intelligent Network management and improve the performance of multi-antenna systems. This support enables new cases, such as extended reality (XR) communications which are built on established augmented reality and virtual reality applications. The main aim of 5G Advanced is to derive more energy-efficient networks which are possible by implementing AI and ML techniques into it. 5G-A will also improve cellular positioning accuracy to below 10 cm by using beamforming as well as various time-based methods to determine location. These improvements will make more accuracy indoors without any access to GPS satellite signals.
The 3GPP has already announced that Rel-18 will be the first release of 5G-Advanced. It is expected that 5G-A will strengthen the foundation of the 5G system by improving the speed, coverage, mobility, and power efficiency of the systems. In this, various AI/ML techniques will be used to improve the radio interface by optimizing the performance of complex multi-antenna systems. Various new use cases such as XR communications and MR communications will use wireless networks to provide immersive experiences in cyber-physical environments and it can enable human-machine interactions using various wireless devices and wearables.
