vRAN Training and Certification
vRAN is Virtualized Radio Access Network which brings network elasticity, flexibility and dynamic RAN optimization. A flexible RAN is the future of next generation mobile network infrastructure. The flexibility of the network provides expanded and more convenient network location choices for the baseband processing. vRAN offers a strategic differentiation by enabling the RRUs to interwork with the virtualized baseband unit (vBBU) over a non-ideal fronthaul. In this vRAN model, the BBUs are virtualized. 5G networks call for vRAN technology because the high number of connections requires smart and granular control of network resources for optimized connections. A separation of the upper and lower parts of the RAN was standardized in 3GPP Rel-15.
Course objective : This course of vRAN covers all topics which are required to understand the concept of virtualized Radio Access Networks. Because of the use of virtualization in RAN, operators can save CAPEX and OPEX, as radio access networks can consume 80% of the total network cost. In order to meet all the expectations and standards that have been set for the 5G networks, virtualization of every aspect of 5G architecture is necessary. vRAN has strong origins in NFV, which transforms the network architecture from hardware based to software based which will be more flexible, agile and cost-effective. Network functions virtualization allows the hardware based networking architecture to become software based.
