The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is an agency of the United States Department of Labor. The mission of OSHA is to assure safe and healthy working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing basic training, education and assistance to all workers. This Act was made in 1970 and was passed to prevent workers from being killed or seriously harmed at work. OSHA provides workers with the right to : receive training and information about hazards, methods to prevent harm and the OSHA standards that apply to their workplace. Observe testing that is done to find hazards in the workplace and get test results. Review records of work related injuries and illnesses. Get copies of their medical records. Most employees in the nation come under the jurisdiction of OSHA. self-employed, immediate family members of farm employers that do not employ outside employees, workers who are protected by any other federal agency do not come under OSHA.
