VoLTE facilitates HD voice calls which means better call quality, faster call setup etc. VoLTE technology is based on IMS (IP multimedia subsystems) set by specifications by 3GPP. IMS network used for VoLTE includes : IP-CAN ( connectivity access network), P-CSCF ( proxy call state control function ), I-CSCF ( Interrogating call state control function ), S-CSCF (serving call state control function ), AS ( Application server ) and HSS ( home subscriber server).
