Open Network Automation Platform is an open source networking project. This project was hosted by Linux Foundation Networking (LNF). ONAP was announced as a result of the merger of OpenECOMP and Open-Orchestrator (Open-O) projects. With this, developers can rapidly automate new services and support complete lifecycle management of resources. It consists of both run time and design time. It performs on-boarding of new types services and virtual network functions (VNFs) and physical network functions (PNFs) and creating and managing instances of different services, VNFs and PNFs.
